What is Geothermal Energy?

Geothermal Energy is heat within the Earth. Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) create artificial reservoirs in hot rock to extract heat for electricity generation or direct-use applications. Advanced Geothermal Systems (AGS) extract thermal energy utilizing a closed-loop system and circulate a working fluid through an extended wellbore, which conducts heat from the rock surrounding the well. Geothermal Energy Storage uses underground reservoirs to store surplus energy for later use.
